Cause

Our secular culture is becoming increasingly inattentive (at best) and outright hostile (in places) to the church, her leaders, her message, and her way of life. Shema exists to help leaders better understand the cultural challenges that are making Christian ministry increasingly difficult, and to become the rise up to meet this cultural moment out of who they truly are in Christ.

So we're not just talking defensive survival, we are chasing victory.

For us, to win would be to help seed renewal in the culture through the church by providing local churches with leaders whose virtuous and Christlike character is undeniably compelling even to an increasingly secular culture.

We do this by creating holistic learning environments and mentoring relationships that help Christian leaders:

  • Increase their connection to their true Identity in Christ.

  • Know & live out their unique Vocation.

  • Cultivate a mastery of Theology & Culture.

Organization

Shema is a group of pastors, Christian leaders, & theologians who serve local churches and Christian organizations in Southern California.

Impact

Since 2019, our mentoring, short-term cohorts and community events, retreats, online content, and church development partnerships have helped tens of thousands of ministry leaders integrate their faith, identities, and vocations in compelling ways.

Our greatest impact comes, therefore, not from what we do, but from what they do. Our apprentices have made immeasurable impact in their Christian ministries, local churches, and organizations.
